Getting the Hope Channel

Rural Electronics in Orange supplies a kit which includes

  • 900 mm dish and mount,
  • LNB,
  • Coax cable
  • 'Free to Air' digital receiver pretuned to the Optus D2 satellite.
  • Installation instructions

The cost is  $235 plus freight from Orange.

Before you order you need to decide where the dish will be mounted.  A clear view to the north at about 45o is needed. The dish will not receive through trees.

Questions you will be asked when you order:
1. What kind of roof do you have? This is so they supply the right kind of mount.  There are 3 kinds of mount - metal roof, tile roof, north facing wall

2. How much cable do you need to get from where the dish will be mounted to where you will have the receiver and TV? The kit comes with 10 metres but if you need more you can order it at minimal cost.

3. How will you connect it to your TV?  Most modern TV's have AV inputs for which you will need an AV lead. If you will connect it to the TV aerial connection you will need a "fly lead"

4. How do you want to pay for it? The options are cheque, bank deposit and credit card.  There is a $10 surcharge when you pay by credit card.

Getting Help

You have tried to install it yourself but are stuck. You can't get it working.
You aren't game to do it yourself and would like someone to help you.
If you live in the Lithgow, Oberon or Mudgee districts of NSW you are in luck

Ken Bird has been involved with satellite dish installation since 1999 and is experienced in installing both 2.3 metre dishes and the 900 mm dish used to receive the Optus B3 channels. He is familiar with the receivers provided by Rural Electronics in Orange and able to give support over the phone or onsite.  Ken is able to give you guidance on the best place to place the dish, and the best way to connect to your TV.  He admits to being biased towards the Hope Channel.
